A family academy in Hyattsville

Hyattsville BJJ — GFTeam Hyattsville — is a family-owned and community-focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy at 4616 Ingraham St in Hyattsville, Maryland, near the Hyattsville Arts District. Family-owned since 2015, we have built a positive, family-first atmosphere where students of every age and level are supported by elite coaches and an inclusive team that treats you like one of their own.

The academy is part of GFTeam, one of the top Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teams in the world. Our founder and head coach, Professor Deivid Dias, is a GFTeam black belt and Hall of Fame member and an IBJJF Pan American Champion. His lineage runs through the Fadda line: Maeda → Luiz França → Oswaldo Fadda → Monir Salomão → Júlio César Pereira → Ataíde Rafael → Deivid Dias.

Day to day in Hyattsville, the academy is run by Coach Omar Gonzalez — a D.C. native, purple belt under Professor Deivid, and an owner of GF Team Hyattsville — whose own children train on these mats. That is the spirit of this school: individuals and families growing together, building lasting friendships, and developing discipline, confidence, and character both on and off the mats.

Whether you are a competitive roller or brand new and looking for self-defense and fitness, there is a place for you here. Come find your extended family on the mats.
